“Animation should be an art….what you fellows have done with it is making it into a trade….not an art, but a trade….bad luck .” Thus Winsor McCay, father of the animated cartoon, pronounced the doom of the very industry he had inadvertently helped create.

The instructor, Ms Tehzeeb Khurana, a celebrated Animations Director with over 15 years of experience, the founder and curriculum designer of Toon club has endeavoured to revolutionise the way animation is taught to our kids by taking them back to the roots of Animation and stressing on the importance of creativity by drawing the animations on paper.

She explained with passion and zeal the History Of Animation. She explained the scientific concepts of the Persistence Of Vision, the reason behind visualising still images as a continous series of motion.

Ms. Tehzeeb reiterated that Animation is not the Art Of Drawings that move but the art of movements that are drawn. The kids were introduced to concepts like Thaumatropes and Phenakistoscopes and actually created these optical devices. The kids Natsumi and Moulika did a fabulous job coming up with creative ideas and fascinated us with their sheer talent. They also watched short documentaries on the History of Animation.
